NEW YORK and WILMINGTON, MA -- The Institute for the Advancement of Behavioral Healthcare announces that the Federation of State Physician Health Programs (FSPHP) will be a supporter of the upcoming National Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit in Atlanta, April 2-5, 2018.

The Institute, the leading events and education provider in the behavioral healthcare community, and FSPHP, which focuses on support to its member state physician health programs with their aim for successful rehabilitation and monitoring of physicians (and other healthcare professionals) with substance use disorders, as well as physical illness, will work together toward their common goal of reducing prescription and illicit drug overdoses by encouraging diverse stakeholders to use the Summit as a forum for continued discussion on this public health emergency.

The Summit is the largest national collaboration of professionals from local, state, and federal agencies, business, academia, treatment providers, and allied communities impacted by prescription drug misuse and heroin use. At the 2017 Summit nearly 2,500 attendees heard from a wide range of speakers, including U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. President Obama addressed the Summit in 2016.

Along with FSPHP, the Institute engages a wide range of groups at the annual Summit. The conference's educational advisor is Operation UNITE (Unlawful Narcotics Investigations, Treatment and Education, Inc.), which serves a 32-county region in southern and eastern Kentucky to rid communities of illegal drug use through a comprehensive approach that includes educating youth and the public, coordinating substance abuse treatment, and providing support for families and friends of substance abusers.  For more information on the Summit, visit
